In this article you will find a list of 11 things to consider before buying a new Laptop or Notebook computer.
1 – What are you going to use the Laptop for?
If you are using it to surf the internet, emailing or just doing word processing then you don’t need a monster, a basic model will suffice, but if you are going to use it for gaming or video editing, then you need plenty of power so the editing or playing runs smoothly.
2 – Where are you going to use it?
If you are going to carry it with you all the time a 17-Inch Laptop might be too heavy, and you might be better of looking at a 13,14 or 15-Inch Laptop instead.
On the other hand, if you’re almost never going to carry it with you, then you might prefer a nice 17-Inch or even an 18-Inch Laptop display.
3 – How important is the design?
There are many different kind of designs out there and if you look around you will find one that suites your taste. Do not settle for one that is ok, look around until you find one that feels perfect (for you that is).
4 – Warranty?
If you are going to carry the Laptop Notebook with you then it would be advised to upgrade to a extended warranty that also covers accidents and theft. Better safe than sorry!
5 – Support?
If your knowledge about computers are limited and you do not like going to Google trying to figure every answer yourself then good support is vital.
6 – Do you work a lot with numbers?
Although you can connect a numeric keypad via USB it might be more efficient to choose a Laptop Notebook that comes equipped with a numeric keypad already build in to it.
7 – Wireless?
If you are going to connect your computer to router then you need a build in wireless card. Nowadays it is very uncommon that a Laptop or Notebook does not come equipped with a Wireless card but make sure the model that you choose has the N-draft or N-standard because it is the fastest offered today.
8 – Battery Life?
A laptop is only portable if you do not have to connect anything to it that takes away its portability. Always try to get a Laptop Notebook with excellent battery life. 2 hours is not enough, look for at least 4 hours of battery life.
9 – Material used?
Make sure the materials used for your laptop matches the way you are going to handle your new Laptop. If you are not going to carry it with you as much you do not need to put too much focus into this but if you are going to have it with you then you might want to look at a computer that is made of materials that will not break as easy, for instance aluminum or Magnesium.
10 – Color?
Yes, color? Although for example red notebook computers look good, keep in mind that you will have your new Laptop Notebook for a long time. It’s like a new kitchen, If you choose a kitchen that is red you might think, “damn this looks good” but after a couple of weeks you are going to get tired of that color and wished that you would have chosen a more discrete or more classic color.
11 – Overall impression?
The first impression you get when you see a new laptop is often the most correct one. If the first thing your inner voice says when it sees it is “NO”, then do not buy that model. Keep looking and you will find one that suites your needs and/or wishes and buy that one instead.
